This is a very good plan and is very revealing about what we normally eat. I recommend it highly because I know it is working for me.

Good advice, but tough

I'm trying to decide between willpower to make lifelong diet changes and bariatric sleeve surgery, which will force me to make almost identical changes but give me a head start. The message here is eat 1-2 lbs of veggies per day, 4 servings fruit, 3 servings protein (1 must be beans), 1 serving nuts and 1-2 T oil. Zero wheat, zero sugar, zero processed food. I do like the focus on what you should ADD to your diet being more prominent than what you should take away. I lost 6

It's hard. This book is more sensible and honest than most. Giving the logic along the way without getting extremely technical was helpful.

As diet books go, I like this one a lot. Enough to give it a try.

The theory is much like Dean Ornish or Joel Fuhrman, i.e. lots of vegetables and fruit, less meat and grains, and very little sugar or processed food. But he's more relaxed about it. After a two-week "metabolic reset" a.k.a. the tough kickstart that most diet programs start with, he lets you go back to your normal way of eating and change things step by step in 12 steps which could take a year.

The title sounded odd to me but I discovered online it's part of a quote by Benjamin Franklin: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

Overall a pretty good book to help improve health. I found some of the points a bit extreme and would have liked to see documentation as to why and not just take his written word.

For doctors who promote a vegan or plant based diet he is the most relaxed with eating animal products as animal products are encouraged but not for all protein sources. He wants the biggest health improvement to eat 1 lb or more of vegetables per day. He has 12 "stations" or food/health rules but if you follow his firs
